Hello
everyone! Welcome to my blog. Here, I will periodically be posting about my
experiences as a member of the STARS LEAD Program.
I was first
drawn to the STARS program because of my friend Collin. He introduced me to the
STARS Program as a whole. He got me to attend the initial meeting and spark my
interest in it. After a semester of being in the program, I knew that the STARS
LEAD program would help me further develop my leadership skills. With the STARS
LEAD program, I can learn to be a better leader with my peers and hopefully get
enough experience to potentially be a STARS Mentor next year. That position
would require many leadership qualities and I think that the LEAD program can
help me perfect those qualities so I can be the best leader possible, even if I
don’t end up as a STARS Mentor.
I was very anxious
to go to the first STARS Leaders meeting. It was my first chance to meet all
the other leaders and to get to know them better. I really liked the ice
breaker activity that we did because it gave me a chance to learn more about
everyone else, and to also tell everyone a little more about me. I now realize
that I should have mentioned that I am a leader in my introduction. I found it
very interesting that no one mentioned that. It shows that all of us still have
much to learn in order to get to our full potential as leaders. Leadership can
also be defined in many ways. I would say that leadership can be defined as
having the qualities to be able to direct a group of people in a smart and
coherent way during difficult situations, and developing the leadership skills
of the individuals in the group as well, from leading by example.
